The investigation will focus on book four, chapter seven in Savonarola's treaty – Mahumetanorum sectam omni ratione carere –, and chapter eight in Maxim's first collection of works – Slovo oblichitel'no na agarianskuiu prelest' i umyslivshago eia skvernago psa Maomefa. Comparative analysis is intended to enlighten the position of these articles within the general structure of the work in which they belong and the function they assume in it, together with the presence of textual coincidences within them.

Abstract

Anti-islamic articles in Girolamo Savonarola's Triumphus crucis and Maxim the Greek's first collection of works: some textual coincidences Given the influence Girolamo Savonarola had on Maxim the Greek's worldview and the affinity between Savonarola's Triumphus crucis (1497) and the first collection of works by Maxim, the present article aims at investigating the writings both authors addressed against Islam.
