The goal of this paper is to define the quality of the energy of the heroine in Lamiel, one of Stendhal’s last works, and to examine its “a-gendered” characteristics. The impossibility of framing Lamiel within a sexually and socially marked role enables the redefinition of the characteristics of feminine energy in the direction of a neutering of genre. This model needs to take its place between those describing the libertine heroines of the 18th century and those in use for the women usually present in 19th century novels.

Abstract
The goal of this paper is to define the quality of the energy of the heroine in Lamiel, one of Stendhal’s last works, and to examine its “a-gendered” characteristics. The impossibility of framing Lamiel within a sexually and socially marked role enables the redefinition of the characteristics of feminine energy in the direction of a neutering of genre. This model needs to take its place between those describing the libertine heroines of the 18th century and those in use for the women usually present in 19th century novels.File in questo prodotto:
