Abstract: Today it is quite common to claim that science and democracy represent the two sides of the same coin. I agree with this statement, even though it is definitely too vague. In my book, my version of the relationship between science and democracy states that scientists and laypeople should be seen as components of a single community of inquiry, the aim of which is the truth. In what follows, I try to reply to some of the objections raised by this thesis.
