INTERTEXTUAL CORRESPONDENCES AS CULTUROLOGICAL UNITS OF BILINGUAL MIND (on the material of Nabokov’s self-translations) The present paper discusses some theoretical and practical problems of intertextuality in the self-translations of one of the most illusive and linguistically playful bilingual writer of the XX-th century Vladimir Nabokov. Nabokov’s translations of his own works allow to realize how every bilingual person finds his own idiosyncratic, constantly shifting, active balance of his languages which may involve the creation of a special idiolect where elements from various languages/cultures combine in a bilingual synthesis. The main purpose of this analisys is to see by what means the linguistic/cultural identity of bilingual person is shaped and to investigate how the process of self-translation may become an occasion for remodeling of the self.
