The representation of oral speech in literature differs sharply from what real spoken language is. The aim of this paper is to analyze various uses of the discourse particle ну and its Italian equivalents, which allow to better describe the functioning of Rus- sian particles. The contrastive study indicates that we need to re ne lexicographic descriptions of these particles on the basis of a representative corpus of parallel texts.
