The relationship between neoliberal economic paradigm and corruption is taken into consideration. Moving from a definition of corruption as a de-facto "privatization" of public assets, a critical assesment of the traditional anticorruption policies is presented, showing how characteristics and effictiveness of State's authoriy is a crucial variable in order to understand the logic and dynamics of corrupt exchanged in both democratic and authoritarian countries
