The aim of this paper is to assess the viability of the proposal to create regional disembarkation platforms on African territories. The proposal was relaunched by the European Council on 28 June 2018 but the terms for its implementations are not yet clear. Therefore, the potential options for its implementation will be explored and the conditions which should be respected in order to avoid possible responsibilities of EU MSs will be assessed.
