This essay analyses Thatcherism in the framework of the history of political ideas and political theory. The changing process of the classical liberal tradition in Great Britain is the starting point used to understand the political experience of Thatcher and her grandiose attempt to modify the dominant political values in the country. The author copes with the challenge of considering popular capitalism as a new vision of democracy, and uses the Foucauldian category of Biopolitics in order to understand the newness and contradictions of Thatcherism.
