The article starts from a recent edition of Satura (E. Montale, Satura, a cura di R. Castellana, con un saggio di R. Luperini e uno scritto di F. Fortini, Milano, Oscar Mondadori, 2009, pp. 332), by discussing some critical choices related to the problems this work has put in the past. Then, the Author of the article discusses the possible relationship between Satura and the epigrams written by Goethe and Schiller together (Xenien), and afterwards only by Goethe (Zahme Xenien).
