Firing facilities have been exposed at Tell Barri within the levels dated to the 2nd millennium BC. The excavations yielded portions of the ancient settlement characterised by the presence of updraft and downdraft kilns in a stratigraphic sequence and in a relatively good state of preservation. The typological heterogeneity of the archaeological features suggests a variation in firing techniques throughout the LBA. The aim of this paper is to investigate some issues related to the different types of kilns; these will be framed in a wide regional and chronological context, and highlight possible lines of development. The distribution patterns of pots and kilns contributes to the study of the significance of the change in the organization of ceramic production that occurred during the second half of the 2nd millennium BC within the Upper Khabur valley.
