Seismic assessments and structural analyses of buildings that are part of the cultural heritage plays an important role in safeguarding their integrity and conservation. In this paper a Mazars' damage model is used in the characterization of the global dynamic behavior of masonry structures. The model is applied to a medieval church located in Lunigiana (central Italy) which suffered the earthquake in June 2013. The FE analysis demonstrates the importance of taking into account the effect of existing damage in the evaluation of the dynamic behavior of masonry structures.

Abstract
Seismic assessments and structural analyses of buildings that are part of the cultural heritage plays an important role in safeguarding their integrity and conservation. In this paper a Mazars' damage model is used in the characterization of the global dynamic behavior of masonry structures. The model is applied to a medieval church located in Lunigiana (central Italy) which suffered the earthquake in June 2013. The FE analysis demonstrates the importance of taking into account the effect of existing damage in the evaluation of the dynamic behavior of masonry structures.File in questo prodotto:
