This article deals with the organization and the administration of the Lycian communities during the First Centuries of the Roman Empire. The contribution aims at suggesting an interpretation of the development of these cities and at emphasizing the pivotal role assumed by the Lycian League. Shared roots and kinship have played, also, an important factor in appeasing disputes and potential conflicts. Furthermore, the author tries to understand the importance of the Roman citizenship for the Lycians - even before the provincialization - and the bases of the Lycian wealth.
