Carmen de Burgos is a writer practically unknown in Italy, who is placed at the beginning of Spanish feminism. Her intense literary and journalistic activity reflects her work as president of the International League of Iberian and Hispanic Women, in which she fought for equality between men and women in all areas of public and private life. This paper shows the solutions adopted during the Italian translation process of La Mujer moderna y sus derechos, based on the search for the functional equivalence of the target text, in relation to the lexicon, the argumentation, the gender language, the legal administrative and the ideological contents of the work - with the purpose to offer a useful tool for translation studies.

Abstract

Carmen de Burgos is a writer practically unknown in Italy, who is placed at the beginning of Spanish feminism. Her intense literary and journalistic activity reflects her work as president of the International League of Iberian and Hispanic Women, in which she fought for equality between men and women in all areas of public and private life.
