In their retrospective study, Bedi and colleagues [1] evaluated 123 patients with proximal lower extremity soft-tissue sarcomas who were treated with preoperative radiotherapy and surgical resection between 2000 and 2016. Soft-tissue tumors account for less than 1% of all tumors in adult patients, and for 7% to 15% of all tumors in children [3]. Patients undergoing surgical exicisions of soft-tissue sarcoma are at high risk of infection and delayed wound healing because of the invasive nature of the disease, extensive softtissue dissections.

Abstract

In their retrospective study, Bedi and colleagues [1] evaluated 123 patients with proximal lower extremity soft-tissue sarcomas who were treated with preoperative radiotherapy and surgical resection between 2000 and 2016. Soft-tissue tumors account for less than 1% of all tumors in adult patients, and for 7% to 15% of all tumors in children [3]. Patients undergoing surgical exicisions of soft-tissue sarcoma are at high risk of infection and delayed wound healing because of the invasive nature of the disease, extensive softtissue dissections.
