the starting point for this paper was the lack of a common methodology in ancient metrology studies. the proposed method here was used to perform an analysis of buildings and spaces, both public and private ones, in the Roman centres of Agrigentum, Lilybaeum and Tyndaris. The adoption of the Roman metrological system is not a direct consequence of the conquest, indeed the use of a system rather than another strictly depends on the sociocultural background of the three centres under exam: in Tyndaris, houses were built with roman measures since the late republican age; in Agrigentum both Doric and Roman systems were used in different fields until the second half of the II sec. AD; in Lilybaeum Punic system was used at least until the beginning of the III sec. AD.

Abstract
the starting point for this paper was the lack of a common methodology in ancient metrology studies. the proposed method here was used to perform an analysis of buildings and spaces, both public and private ones, in the Roman centres of Agrigentum, Lilybaeum and Tyndaris. AD.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
