Towards the end of the 16th century, when the theory of the conventionality of language began to show its incompatibility with the dictates the theological dogma, many positions call in question the existence of a natural language. In this framework, my purpose is to illustrate an isolated and little-known aspect of the reflection on nature and linguistic convention that occurred in Spain. From the analysis of some texts that testify to a speculation about the nature of the language of the origins, I intend to explore the reasons for the cultural orientation —and the partial metamorphosis— that such issue underwent in Spain.

Abstract
Towards the end of the 16th century, when the theory of the conventionality of language began to show its incompatibility with the dictates the theological dogma, many positions call in question the existence of a natural language. In this framework, my purpose is to illustrate an isolated and little-known aspect of the reflection on nature and linguistic convention that occurred in Spain. From the analysis of some texts that testify to a speculation about the nature of the language of the origins, I intend to explore the reasons for the cultural orientation —and the partial metamorphosis— that such issue underwent in Spain.File in questo prodotto:
