The main goal of this paper is to read documents which deals with language education through the lenses of the vocabulary used in the same texts, as a way to analyze not only the lexical choices made in a text, but also the conceptual frame- work underlying these uses. We will focus on two documents focused on language education delivered by two Italian associations of teachers (GISCEL and MCE) and on the documents delivered by the European institutions about language policies and language education. Words represent a key to access a text, to understand the mean- ings beyond the lines. Analyzing the words used in a text about language education can help to highlight the way we can interpret and conceptualize languages and language education. We will try to answer to the following questions: which words do characterize the documents on language education? Is there any evolution across time in the use of these words and the conceptualization beyond them? Are there any peculiarities in the Italian documents with respect to the European texts? We will present the corpus and the results of some analysis carried out with Sketch Engine, such as frequency list, keywords, concordances.
