Cultural heritage and tourism represent a duo of significant centrality for the relaunch and enhancement of a territory and a city, which have to be achieved through the goals of sustainable development. Here is the summary of a trans-disciplinary research on the case study of the city of Marrakech, which analyzes the ongoing transformations of the architectural heritage that, sometimes, make it a simple commercial tourist product. The study, in this first step, is the beginning for the digitization of cultural heritage and focuses on the definition of a relational database in order to bring the data collected in the HBIM environment in an easily searchable and sustainable form. This approach is led first on the architectural scale and then on a wider scale also for groups of buildings. The results show that the knowledge process developed lays the foundation for the correct use of the existing building stock, guiding future transformations.
