The goal of this essay is twofold: first, to demonstrate that narratives about precarious work in the 2000s in Italy enhance stylistic traits which emerged in the early 90s. Second, it suggests that narratives on precarious work help to focus and to enlighten narrative devices – especially those tied to the re‐ presentation of time – which are used to describe (or, better, to narrate) the contemporary state of mind of Western people, social interactions and the inner psychic life of contemporary forms of life.
