«Terzetto spezzato». Proposta per uno Svevo tragico

Terzetto spezzato is a play that associates elements of comedy to a tragic theatrical performance. With the absence of the chance of redemption, the lack of a communication paradigm and the hovering of the theme of death, the condition of «situazione-limite» (literally: 'extreme situation’) is maintained throughout the play, from the first scene of the catastrophe to the last scene. The Lover and the Husband, captive in their bourgeois living room since the intervention of deus ex machina Clelia, will not be able to determine a different finale than the one that has been pre-determined by the woman. The research aims to explore how this extremely distinctive and unique act of Svevo’s poses itself as «dramma dell’uomo-non libero» (literally: ‘the tragedy of the man who is not free’), demonstrating Svevo’s talent to approach varied theatrical genres.

Terzetto spezzato è una commedia che dialoga da vicino con la forma del tragico. La mancanza di una vera e propria possibilità di redenzione, l’assenza di un paradigma comunicativo e l’incombere della tematica della morte conducono la «situazione-limite» della prima scena alla catastrofe dell’ultima scena. L’Amante e il Marito, ingabbiati così nel salotto borghese dall’intervento del deus ex machina Clelia, non potranno determinare un finale diverso rispetto a quello predeterminato dalla donna. Lo studio si propone quindi di dimostrare come questo particolarissimo atto unico sveviano si confermi «dramma dell’uomo-non libero», dimostrando l’abilità di Svevo nel confrontarsi con più generi teatrali.
