Taking as a starting point the paradigm shift determined by Law 517 in the Italian school system, this contribution analyzes the evolution of integration processes towards inclusion processes. It examines in a critical way the Italian inclusive model and – through a comparative analysis with other European countries – it reveals the prospects for improvement and development, in the light of the new legislation (“La Buona Scuola”) and measures to implement this recent reform of the education system.
