Abstract

How do reading difficulties condition second language learning? Can dyslexic subjects learn foreign languages? What general strategies can be used in order to enhance these difficulties? And what specific strategies can be used when the foreign language is Italian? In the framework of a wider research aimed at preparing a syllabus for teaching Italian as a foreign language to young adult dyslexic students, the paper introduces and discusses in the linguistic perspective some preliminary answers to these questions, which have not as yet been sufficiently investigated. More generally, the paper underlines the importance of the linguistic perspective to the study of language disorders and their treatment and management.
