The Party System and The Servile State are Hilaire Belloc's best-known writings, those in which the historian elaborates and expounds his theory of the servile condition into which capitalism would force the English population. Even if these seem to exhaust, in the eyes of scholars, Belloc's properly political production, this article aims to highlight how the political analysis of the Franco-English historian goes far beyond the two texts cited, as well as how many of his writings, and particularly those of his maturity, are not merely secondary, but perfectly complementary to The Party System and The Servile State and contribute to enriching and clarifying them with care and refinement of investigation.
