This article presents a comparison of English and German structures to be used to promote reading comprehension of German as a second language after English. The aim of the article is to describe how reading comprehension goes hand in hand with an expansion of text competence and can be promoted didactically through a multilingual approach. Its focus is upon text-cohesive elements.
