The productive performance and meat quality of rabbits located in cages and housed open air or in rabbitry were studied during winter and summer. in summer the mortality decreased in open air system while the growth rate and feed conversion during the last month of life increased. At slaughter the incidence of the skin was affected by season and housing system. The hind leg percentage was high er in open-air and in winter. The loin reached a better incidence in summer . The perirenal fat was lower in rabbitry-raised animals. Brighter meats with lower final pH were observed in winter.
