Microtracers, consisting of uniformly sized iron particles colored with codified food dyes were incorporated into an experimental antioxidant premix(Rosmarinus officinalis, vitamine E and C, differeing in Vit. E content). 1.25, 2.50,3.75,and 5.00 g of blue or red particles per 100 kg of food were added to 5 different feed to give concentrations of 31,63,94,and 125, particles per 100 g of food. Vit E. supplementation was 25 mg/kg (2 pellets), 50 mg/kg(1 pellet) and 200 mg/kg (2 pellets). Pellets, grinded to mash, were assigned, by Microtracers-Rotary detector, for colored iron particles presence and by HPLC, for vit E content. Sufficient relationship were found between theoretical and practical recoveries . Repeatability, controlled on the same color by sub-sampling and between the two colors, was R2 =0.71, 0.75,and 0.73 for red, blue and red vs blue, respectively. Traceability of premix was secured by the presence of more than one colored iron particle in every sample. Sufficient relationship were found between analyzed vit E-content and estimated vit e-content. The use of microtracers can give an easy, cheap, and rapid method to control diet uniformity by the use of Poisson statistics and related chi square calculations on couted spots. In addition, use of microtracers technique canbe used, in a not laboratory environment, fore semi quantitative detection of ingredients added to feed in small quantities.
