After a short and updated geologic overview of the Variscan belt in Sardinia a field trip in the Baronie area (in the northeastern portion of the island) is described. We choose six stops that can be easily reached and visited in one day. They are among the best outcrops where the tectonometamorphic history of this sector of the Variscan belt was unravelled.
