An epidemiological survey was carried out to determine the prevalence of antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii in lambs and adult sheep in Leghorn province (Tuscany), previously never examined. Of 423 sheep of different ages, 256 (60,5%) were found to be seropositive using the indirect immunofluorescent antibody test (IFAT) at titres ranging from 1/160 to 1/40960. The prevalence of specific antibodies to Toxoplasma reached 68,4% considering only the group of of ewes in reproduction.
