The transmission of Greek learning to different linguistic areas and subsequent ages was a process of momentous importance in the history of ideas. The transmission of Greek learning covered many fields: philosophy in all its parts, astronomy, mathematics and optics, medicine, and the encyclopaedic sciences including, as was the case at that time, alchemy, physiognomic, and magic. The Muslim world obviously did not become acquainted with this legacy all at once. The first encounter was with alchemy, encyclopedism, and the Syriac heritage of Greek philosophy and science. Then came the stage of the acquaintance with Philosophy, astronomy, mathematics, and medicine, that caused the beginnings of scientific literature in Arabic. The Greek systems of knowledge (Aristotle, Galen, and Ptolemy) were assimilated in the Muslim world, and transmitted to the West (Andalusia).

Abstract
The Greek systems of knowledge (Aristotle, Galen, and Ptolemy) were assimilated in the Muslim world, and transmitted to the West (Andalusia).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
