The experiment aimed to identify the effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide enrichment on the growth and nutrient status of alfalfa. Plants were grown in open-top chambers. Plant mineral nutrients and total non-structural carbohydrates (TNC) were measured in leaf samples. Above ground biomass and leaf area increased under high CO2 conditions whereas leaf concentrations of all the nutrients decreased except for Zn. TNC content increased too.

Abstract
The experiment aimed to identify the effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide enrichment on the growth and nutrient status of alfalfa. Plants were grown in open-top chambers. Plant mineral nutrients and total non-structural carbohydrates (TNC) were measured in leaf samples. Above ground biomass and leaf area increased under high CO2 conditions whereas leaf concentrations of all the nutrients decreased except for Zn. TNC content increased too.File in questo prodotto:
