This article sets out to offer a reasoned analysis of Francisco de Quevedo’s “Vision” El algouacil endemoniado in a 1644 anonymous manuscript translation never known before and found by the author herself in the Museo Correr Library of Venice. To this end, she studies in a comparative way the text of the Algouacil in three different versions: the original Spanish text by Quevedo, the one by La Geneste first French translation, on which the Venetian “Vision” is based, and the anonymous Italian manuscript version.
