Multilingual university education based on parallel texts This paper examines in which way text comprehension in L3 can be facilitated by using parallel texts, e.g. analogous samples of types of texts in various languages which deal with the same subject. The hypothesis ist that by means of a systematic comparative analysis of parallel text types and patterns with their specific lexems, sentence structures and text functions, language learners – also learners from an early language level - will be able to realize a more effective approach to L3-texts. Based on a didactic experiment on the text genre newspaper report and realized together with Italian university students of German L3 and afore English L2, the article aims to point how in which way a multilinguale text-based language learning may support the cognitive process of decoding and the development of language awareness.
