The Pisan Cathedral was the center of city life since its reconstruction begun in 1064. In 1355, Charles IV set systematically in it his acts of governance. This new experience impressed the citizens and led the municipal authorities of the years immediately following to devote stronger attention to the protection of the internal and external spaces of the Cathedral and to try how to « transfigure » the sacred building in its heavenly Holder: Our Lady of the Assumption.
