The early Italian fortune of Quevedo’s Sueños is a field of study that has remained re- grettably and inexplicably in the dark for a long time. The present work aims to draw up a balance of the research carried out by the author in this field, fixing the attention both on the method and the means employed and on its main outcomes. In this sense, the meticulous tracking of funds from Italian and international libraries —which provided relevant results— has been accompanied, when necessary, by a triple textual comparison between the Quevedian original text, the possible intermediate French version (to which often the translators of that time were referred to) and the Italian translation, allowing to throw light on a translation methodology today unusual but very practiced in the XVII century.

Abstract
The early Italian fortune of Quevedo’s Sueños is a field of study that has remained re- grettably and inexplicably in the dark for a long time. The present work aims to draw up a balance of the research carried out by the author in this field, fixing the attention both on the method and the means employed and on its main outcomes. In this sense, the meticulous tracking of funds from Italian and international libraries —which provided relevant results— has been accompanied, when necessary, by a triple textual comparison between the Quevedian original text, the possible intermediate French version (to which often the translators of that time were referred to) and the Italian translation, allowing to throw light on a translation methodology today unusual but very practiced in the XVII century.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
