Abstract

We investigate a specific problem appearing in wireless charging for marine applications: the relative motion between transmitting and receiving coils resulting from the motion between the vessel and the pier where it is moored. In particular, we focus on the variation of the mutual coupling, which has a direct influence on the transfer efficiency. The analysis is carried out with an analytical approach based on the partial inductance method, which enables a rapid calculation of the effects of relative misalignments between the coils.
