The electromechanical analysis of a Permanent Magnets (PMs) bearing is presented. The device is composed of a rotor capable to levitate at a short distance from a dedicated stator. The magnetic (unstable) suspension is achieved by proper configurations of PMs arranged on both the stator and the rotor. In this paper the effects of the presence on a conductive material distribution (i.e. a sheet or a system of null flux coils) surrounding the magnets on the stator are investigated. In particular, it has been shown that the stability with respect to the translation of the center of mass can be passively obtained, once the rotations are actively prevented.

Abstract
The electromechanical analysis of a Permanent Magnets (PMs) bearing is presented. The device is composed of a rotor capable to levitate at a short distance from a dedicated stator. The magnetic (unstable) suspension is achieved by proper configurations of PMs arranged on both the stator and the rotor. In this paper the effects of the presence on a conductive material distribution (i.e. a sheet or a system of null flux coils) surrounding the magnets on the stator are investigated. In particular, it has been shown that the stability with respect to the translation of the center of mass can be passively obtained, once the rotations are actively prevented.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
